Not Just Young At Heart

We were all young once. Some of us have never really grown up either

Thanks to the always generous and ever vigilant Kareen_T for passing along the photo above sent to her by the merelala Tumblr site with the message:

Hello! My parents showed me this picture, and I thought it was pretty cool. Kathryn Morris used to go to their church when they lived in Connecticut, and when they were newly married, they babysat her a couple times. This is a picture of her (on the left) at church sometime in the early 80s. Thought you guys would like it!

Plus, we’ve thrown in a screenshot from The Sweeter Side Of Life of a young Desiree, which is actually photo of the young Kathryn, as confirmed to KM UK by the director Michael Damian.

Fan Art Update – February 2013

We combined the last fan art update with Kathryn’s birthday celebrations, pushing it late in the month of January. February is a short month but we will just squeeze in some more of your art works before its end.

As we held these over from January because they were not birthday-themed the creators should be happy to see them finally getting posted. Not surprisingly given the release of The Sweeter Side Of Life last month, and the better than-anywhere-else screencaps from it posted here on KM UK, all the new images are themed around the film.

Dianekmfan leads the way with 14 new Banners with Kathy joining in with 2 new collage Wallpapers. Thank you to them both. This latest 16 images brings KM UK’s Fan Art Gallery collection to over 700 items (including avatars, banners, buttons, drawings, videos and wallpapers) and that is all thanks to our dedicated and talented visitors. The Sweeter Side Of Ratings

The Futon Critic website has published Nielsen audience figures covering the 19th of January 2013 on cable TV in the US. The night that included première broadcast of Kathryn’s TV movie The Sweeter Side Of Life.

We can’t claim to fully understand the Nielsen numbers and methods but here they are as reported for TSSOL:

1.975 million viewers, #5; 0.366 million adults 18-49 (0.3 rating), #9

In fact the numbers are fairly meaningless without some context. The previous weekend’s Hallmark Channel movie premiere (12 January 2013) was a film called Nearlyweds, starring Danielle Panabaker and Naomi Judd. That film’s figures were:

1.323 million viewers, #3; 0.297 million adults 18-49 (0.2 rating), #6

As you can see TSSOL got over 650,000 more viewers and a 23% higher rating in the, what for some reason is seen as the most important, “key demographic” 18-49 year old age group. We don’t believe that the repeat showings, straight afterwards and since, are included.

The relative positions in the rankings (TSSOL: #5 and #9, Nearlyweds: #3 and #6) don’t paint such a rosy picture though. However, the Lifetime channel’s screening of a drama and documentary about the Casey Anthony trial (a mother charged with the murder of her 2 year old daughter in 2008 which became a huge news story in 2011) took the first and third slots, pushing TSSOL down two from where it would otherwise have been. A few other shows up against TSSOL got large numbers in the “key demo” but were lower overall adding to that #9.

Review of The Sweeter Side Of Life

It has been a while, too long in fact, since we saw Kathryn in a significant new project. Since the Cougars, Inc. VOD release on the 1st of April 2011 (May for the DVD) there has been… well, nothing really. Of several scenes filmed for Moneyball, one of the biggest movies of 2011, only a singleton made it to the public and that was just as a deleted scene on the DVD. One short film (Sunday’s Mother) that has only been shown at a few festivals. That’s it. As regulars know there are a couple of other projects in the offing: another short (The Coin) and a small role in a feature film (2 Br/1 Ba). That makes this, the lead role in a TV movie, a big deal for us fans of Kathryn. Can it possibly live up to the weight of expectation?

It was so good to have Kathryn back on our screens. We’ve missed her very much. A comedy role like this is new for her too. I have wanted to see her do comedy for a long time and have no doubt she can do it with aplomb.
