 A great (and I use the word advisedly) tradition of the media industry is remaking older tv shows/films/etc. and I’ve found out that the Lifetime Network in the US has been at it. The new TV movie was first aired at the weekend.
To be fair to them they’ve not ‘done a Spider-man’ and made a three versions in less than 20 years. Lifetime went back to 1994 for Death Of A Cheerleader, also known as A Friend To Die For. Based on a true story, the drama dealt with the murder of a high-school girl by one of her classmates. Kathryn had a small role as a Goth teenager, bullied for being different by our victim the popular girl as played by Tori Spelling. It was one of Kathryn’s early on screen performances.
Often in these remakes they like to try and draw in fans of the original by casting someone from it in the new one. As the actor will have aged it often means a child in the first becomes a parent, possibly of the same character. From what I can see they haven’t done that, but they have cast Kellie Martin, the original teen killer, as a police detective in the remake. I guess they can go with the idea of her having to catch her teenage self. Sadly they didn’t go for Kathryn as well. She could have been a cool art teacher with a dark streak, or an English teacher keen on Gothic horrors. Oh well.
2019’s DOAC will have a number of updates brought about by a quarter of a century of of changes. I’m sure mobilephones and social media play their parts, along with some adjustments to take into account the way we view certain behaviours etc.
But rather than me make pronouncements on a TV movie I haven’t seen why not read a review of the new version of Death Of A Cheerlader by Mads Lennon (now that’s a name!) over at the Hidden Remote website HERE.

 For various reasons it has been a quiet December on KM UK.
To make up for it we’re going to take a trip to an Xmas past. It’s an Xmas present to enjoy for the Xmas (in the near) future. See what I did there? 
Fourteen, yes 14!, years ago today (18th December 2003) the action/sci-fi-ish movie Paycheck got the red carpet treatment at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The general release started a week later on the 25th.
Strikes me as an odd time to bring out a movie. In the UK that would never happen. The big day is a national holiday so places like cinemas are not open, Boxing Day maybe. I know that in the US Thanksgiving is more significant like that.
It had not occurred to me before but the wonderful red colour of Kathryn’s dress is a little bit Xmas-y. Wonder if it was deliberate. As there is not much more to it than the colour hopefully winter in Hollywood was not cold that evening

 It’s 10 years ago this month that the film Resurrecting The Champ was first released in cinemas in selected parts of the world. Most of the rest of the world didn’t get to see it for months, or even years, later.
Ten years! That’s crazy!
RTC is about a struggling newspaper sports reporter (Josh Hartnett as Erik Kernan) looking for a story that will make his name. He then stumbles upon a homeless man (Samuel L Jackson only referred to as ‘Champ’) as who claims to be a long-thought dead boxing legend. Kathryn (you know, from Cold Case) plays Joyce Kernan, wife of Erik. She’s a successful journalist working at the same newspaper and mother to his child. Joyce is a few years older than Erik, which appears to be the cause of some issues for him.
Kathryn’s role in the film is relatively small but, as is often the case, it is crucial to the development of lead character as the story progresses
2007 puts us before Josh found his Penny, Dreadful or otherwise and Samuel L was yet to become the Marvel character Nick Fury in a 1001 projects. Or star in an unrelated film called Fury (aka The Samaritan). Dakota Goyo, the actor who played the Kernan’s son and the lucky so-and-so that got a red carpet hug from Kathryn at the première :-x, was 8 at the time. Since then he’s starred as the son of Hugh Jackman and Evangeline Lilly in the robot fighting movie Real Steel, and sort of crossed paths with SLJ again as he was the young Thor in the first of that branch of the Marvel universe.
 But enough of the ‘where are they now’. Today I’ve added an extended video interview Kathryn did for promotional material to the KM UK Gallery. A shorter section had been posted before. It is her answers to a series of questions describing Joyce and her role in the plot. Broadcasters often use segments of these videos when reviewing films.
As we’ve come to expect from Kathryn she gives detailed explanations in simple terms and has clearly worked hard to understand her character. Working previously with director Rod Lurie (Deterrence and The Contender), who once suggested Kathryn was his muse, most have helped with that getting that deeper knowledge.
 You get me every time!
Turns out the rumours were not entirely true. Fortunately for we Kathryn-fans the one about her being in You Get Me was a good one.
About 40 minutes into the teen drama it is revealed that the mother, Mrs Hewitt to you, of one of the main characters was the one and only Kathryn. In she walked to the bedroom of her daughter (Halston Sage as Alison) and found her with the psycho of the piece (Bella Thorne as Holly). They chat briefly and Mrs H leaves them to it.
Other than a few wide shots of the house the Hewitts live in showing them moving around through the largely glass outer walls that’s pretty much it for Kathryn’s role.
On the plus side she looks lovely (see above) and we get some nice smiles (see above). The smile and slight bowing of her head as she leaves the girls alone reminded me of the blushing Lilly Rush when ADA Kite managed to embarrass her with a display of affection. She’s still got it! Awwww
The not-so true rumour involved NCIS star Jennifer Esposito. She definitely was not in the movie. The character she was linked to, Corinne, was the mother Holly. The role was instead taken by Brigid Brannagh (Army Wives), who was clearly a better match to Bella’s looks with their Irish heritages.

The teen drama in no way like Fatal Attraction and starring Bella Thorne, Nash Grier, and Halston Sage that is You Get Me is released on the Internet video streaming service Netflix today (23rd June). Who knows, Kathryn Morris may even be in it.

The movie received it’s première at the LA Film Festival earlier this week. Some of the key cast were in attendance. Kathryn, as far as we can tell, was not.
