Cheerleader Resurrected

doac_27As I started to put this post together the obvious subject line to use was ‘Resurrection Of A Cheerleader’.  It tied in very nicely with the Death Of A Cheerleader film title.  Turns out I thought it was a great title back in February when I first used it!  Mind like a sieve sometimes!

This news I recently found of the Lifetime channel in the US, broadcasting a remake of the 1994 movie sometimes called A Friend To Die For yesterday, should have been less of a surprise as I’d previously reported this same thing.  So often I post about the announcement of a project Kathryn is due to star in, following up some time later when it gets released or other news breaks on the subject.  I initially took my earlier article on this 2019 TV movie as a ‘in development’ item.  As I said, very forgetful.

Nope.  Turns out February was the début.  Not sure why some outlets are reporting the Labor Day weekend showing as a first.  It did form part of a cheerleader themed week of films (Denise Richards of Cougars, Inc. stars in one of them).  Some of of them were premières, so maybe that’s where the confusion lies.

Anyway, Kathryn got some mentions as a star in the 1994 film.  Sadly she didn’t make a return in this one, Kellie Martin (one of the teenagers before) did guest star as a police detective though.

If, for some reason, you want to see this remake then it is no doubt being shown often enough on Lifetime so you won’t have to wait long for it to come around again.  They’ll probably re-do it again in a few years.  Perhaps Kathryn can be persuaded to be in that one.

Sorry to have bothered you.

Resurrecting The Champ On US Blu-ray

rtc_314A quick reminder.

Two weeks later than we originally thought/reported, tomorrow (25th June) is the day that Resurrecting The Champ will be be released on Blu-ray.  This is in the US market.

You’d think it is was out for the count by now but it has come out punching.  See what I did there?  Getting all clever with the boxing references.

You can pick up a copy of the Rod Lurie’s movie starring Samuel L. Jackson, Josh Hartnett, Alan Alda, Teri Hatcher on Amazon US HERE.

The Dirt Full HD Screencaps

the_dirt_1080p_143
Is it time to dish the dirt on The Dirt?

Not really.  I’ve not exactly watched the film and I’ve definitely not read the book it is based on, and my knowledge of Mötley Crüe is minimal.  I’ll leave the reviews to those better qualified than me.  Google will provide you with plenty if you want to read some.  I will say that the film has got very mixed reviews.  Did it go too far?  Did it not go far enough?  Is it a faithful recreation of the source material?  Is that biography actually accurate?  Does it matter?

Let us instead focus on the reason we’re here:  Kathryn Morris.

the_dirt_1080p_004As far I can find there was never any news chatter of Kathryn taking a role as the Deana Richards, mother of Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx (real name Frank Carlton Serafino Feranna, Jr.), in this film.  It definitely took us by surprise.  The project has been in the planning since shortly after the book was released in 2001, with various directors and actors attached to it over the years.

the_dirt_1080p_010Kathryn essentially has three distinct scenes in the film.  She appears for the first time by the end of minute 3 as Nikki sets up his early days with an abusive father and an uncaring mother (above left).  Immediately jumping forward a few years, dad is gone and mother is looking for answers at the bottom of a bottle with which ever man she’s recently picked up (right).  Nikki is acting up with loud music, provoking an argument with Deana which results in the police being called.  The issue is resolved without an arrest but Nikki makes his attitude towards his mother very clear (below left).  That’s all before 7 minutes in.

the_dirt_1080p_099Our next sighting of Kathryn is just past the hour mark.  Nikki and the Crüe are rapidly heading towards (no pun intended) rock bottom.  Attempting to calm things down the group’s manager brings Deana to meet Nikki.  It doesn’t go well (top).  And that’s all she wrote.

So, we get Deana in three time periods, meaning we get Kathryn with three different looks and many different emotions.

There are now over 140 Full HD (1080p) screencaps from Kathryn’s scene are now in the KM UK Gallery.

Kathryn’s Really In The Dirt

the_dirt_premiere_008A noteworthy update to yesterday’s public appearance post.

Based on the information available at the time I could see no connection between Kathryn and this new Mötley Crüe biopic, The Dirt, due on Netflix this week.

Turns out there was more to this than just a red carpet appearance.  Happy to issue a correction on this issue.

According to a new revision on the IMDb page for the movie Kathryn is actually in it.  Her character is called Deana.  The first connection I’ve managed to make between the band and Deana is Nikki Sixx’s mother.  Her name Deana Richards.

Expect to see more from us on this soon.

Resurrecting Resurrecting The Champ: Out Of The Blu… ray

rtc_160File this one under:  Really?  This wasn’t a thing already?

News has reached KM UK that the 2007 film Resurrecting The Champ is set for a Blu-ray release in America this coming June.

Some parts of the world, notably Germany, had a Blu-ray version of the movie years ago but it appears that wasn’t the case back home in the US.  Now, a release as part of the MVD Marquee Collection is set for June 11th.

The hi-def home viewing solution includes some extras but they don’t look like anything new and are all in standard definition so must be lifted from the earlier DVD release.

blu-ray_cover_001For new comers, Resurrecting The Champ revolves around Josh Hartnett and Samuel L Jackson’s characters.  Josh is a newspaper sports reporter looking for a big story to make his name.  Samuel is a homeless man Josh stumbles across who claims to be a once-famous boxer with a tale to tell.  His he who he says he is?  It’s a film with boxing but is definitely not a boxing movie.

Kathryn is one of the many big names making up the supporting cast.  Director Rod Lurie has a habit of doing this with his films.  As Josh’s older, more successful writer, mother to his son, and estranged wife, Kathryn is the grown up in the relationship.  She’s also gorgeous in every shot.  A quadruple (or more) threat.  She has some great scenes with Josh.  Well worth checking in full HD.

There are various images and videos relating to Resurrecting The Champ already in KM UK The Gallery.  The Blu-ray box cover, above, has now been added.
