2 Br/1 Ba Teaser Trailers

on_set_20120927_009A little over a year has passed since we first heard about the film 2 Br/1 Ba, and slightly less since they finished filming it.  In the intervening period things have gone a bit quiet on the 2 Br/1 Ba front.  Those involved in the project have been very busy though.

trailer_001_alexa_vegaLead actress Alexa Vega (Spy Kids) has seen the release of Machete Kills, the follow-up to Robert Rodriguez’s Machete.  The original Machete film was based on one of a number of fake trailers for movies seen in the Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino film Grindhouse, which also starred Cold Case‘s Tracie Thoms.  The Machete character, as played by Danny Trejo (From Dusk Till Dawn), first appeared in the kids film Spy Kids which starred Alexa Vega and was directed by Robert Rodriguez.  Phew!  Is anyone following this?

trailer_002_spencer_grammerCo-lead actress Spencer Gammer (TV show Greek) on the other hand has done more TV work with a guest role on CSI early this year and new for autumn 2013 NBC drama Ironside.  Based on the long-running TV show from the 60s and 70s, starring Raymond Burr as a wheelchair-bound detective, the new Ironside has had a very short run indeed.  Just last week the network cancelled the show after only three episodes had aired.  I understand that one more will be shown this week before the show is replaced by repeats and a new programme in January.

Richard Riehle (Office Space) continues to be the hardest working man in Hollywood with far too many recent and upcoming projects to mention here.

But why single out those three? you ask.  Good question.  Because all of them can be seen in two short teaser trailers for 2 Br/1 Ba now available in the KM UK Gallery.  Sadly, other than her name being shown towards the end of each 40 second long piece Kathryn does not appear.  I’ve posted them because they give you some ideas as to the content and style of the film.

While we’re on the subject of those involved in 2 Br/1 Ba we’ll cover a couple of others.

2 Br/1 Ba Producer Tenille Houston (She Wants Me) starred in the much talked about film The Canyons.  Perhaps ‘notorious’ is a better word for it as the off-screen antics of star Lindsay Lohan was making headlines throughout filming.

Co-producer Kristen Ruhlin (She Wants Me and banner image) has also had a busy time of late.  She got married to this film’s director Rob Margolies earlier this year.  Thanks to a new podcast interview with Austin Mitchell (for English people of a certain age: not that one) for his Broken Legs podcast we’ve learnt that they are expecting their first child together in December.  Congratulations all round to Kristen & Rob.

In the interview (available HERE on iTunes, 2 Br/1 Ba is mentioned in the last 10 minutes of the lengthy chat) Kristen mentions that they are currently looking for a buyer for the film.  KM UK will, of course, let you know more when we can.

Be Aware Of Greeks Following Protocol

on_set_012Not entirely sure what the protocol is here…  :-)

Actress Xen Sia (above right with Kathryn) is the October cover star of the monthly New York-based NEO Magazine, which focuses on American Greeks.  Xen appeared on KM UK’s  radar earlier this year when she starred in, what we believed at the time, was a short film called The Protocol by Johnny Messner’s “Johnny Be Goode” production company.

The exact nature of the film (plot etc.) is not known to us but we are aware that Kathryn had a role, along with Max Ryan (Death Race),  Joel Cavness, Will Crown and, of course, Xen Sia (Casino Jack).  Filming took place over a few days in the middle of July.  Since then we’ve not heard anything on the project.  Until now.

Xen Sia has been interviewed for NEO Magazine and it gives us a very different take on the production, and a nice comment about Kathryn:

Her savvy, go-getter attitude is what landed Sia a starring role as Agent Amanda Chase in “The Protocol”, a cutting edge television series/episodic produced by Brad Feinstein. Also featuring Kathryn Morris (“Cold Case” and “Minority Report”), Max Ryan (“Death Race”) and Johnny Messner (“Tears of the Sun”), the series is currently in the midst of a bidding war between several networks. One highlight from the production experience for Sia, was getting to know and learn from her colleague, Morris.

“She really took me under her wing, and was so nurturing and motherly,” Sia said of the well-respected actress.

So, The Protocol could become much more than we thought.  If it were to become a TV series it does not necessarily mean that Kathryn would be starring in it.

You can read the full article by Eleni Kostopoulos HERE on the NEO Magazine website.

We will update you with further news on The Protocol when we can.  Doing so before then would be difficult :-)

The Coin Is Underexposed?

underexposed_film_festival_1736x808

I thought our short film director (as in he directs short films, not the other thing) du jour had jumped the official gun again in announcing this today (or yesterday due to the time difference to LA).  Turns out he didn’t, I just expected this to be officially announced in a few days.

The powerful and award winning short film The Coin will be getting another outing.  This time it is at the Underexposed Film Festival in York County.  A quick check on Wikipedia reveals nine York Counties, six of them in the USA, so we’ll need to narrow it down further.  This is YC in SC, or the eastern state of South Carolina.

This is the second year of the film festival, organised by the Arts Council of York County, and runs from the 14-16th of November (Thursday-Saturday).  The venue is the Community Performance Center on East Main St. in the county’s captial of Rock Hill.

The Coin is part of the festival’s “Directors Choice” section.  The 8 minute long short being specifically one of 13 films in the set labelled “Narrative”.  No word yet on the exact screening schedule.  We’ll update you when we can.

More details about the Underexposed Film Festival can be found on their website HERE.

The Coin At The OC… FSSS

I’ve just discovered that the award winning short film The Coin will be getting another screening.

It’s short notice though and for members-only.

The Orange County Film Society is holding a Shorts Showcase event tomorrow (that’s 24th September).

Kick-off is 7:30pm at the Regency Lido Theatre in Newport Beach, California.

It looks like there will be 7 short films shown and there will be a Q&A with some of the creatives afterwards.  Director/writer/producer Fabien Martorell and producer/actor Will Kemp are due to attend.

The OC Film Society’s Facebook page is HERE.

The Coin Lands Heads Up @ BBLIFF

big_bear_lake_international_film_festival_180x128Fabien Martorell, director of the The Coin, has let us know that his project has won an award!

This weekend’s Big Bear Lake International Film Festival concluded this afternoon (Sunday, 22 Sept) with the Filmmaker Awards Ceremony.

The 8 minute long short drama starring Kathryn, Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future) and young Jack Ryan Shepherd, won the “Best Short Film – Jury Award” at the event.

Congratulations to all involved.
