Kathryn @ Fashion Girls For Humanity: Sandy Benefit

sandy_benefit_002Kathryn has clearly been in a very charitable mood of late.  Quick, someone ask her for a few bucks! :-)

Today (Saturday, 15th December 2012) Kathryn attended a Fashion Girls For Humanity (FGFH) event in aid of the victims of hurricane Sandy, which hit the Eastern Seaboard of the US of A last month.

FGFH, originally founded in the wake of the Japanese Tsunami of 2011, continues to raise money for good causes by organising sales of clothing donated by top fashion labels.  You can read more about the FGFH on their website.  Looks like Kathryn bought a few bags-worth.  Hopefully we’ll get to see the results of the shopping sometime soon.

sandy_benefit_001So far we have a couple of photos of Kathryn at the event now in the Gallery.  We’ll add more if we get them.

Thanks to HATCh, Inc. for the heads-up and first photo (left), and to FGFH for the second one (above).  And thanks to those KM fans that also contacted KM UK so we could share this with you.

Update (4 January 2013):  The photo on the left has been upgraded to a much larger version.

Paige Fortin Auction – Two Days To Go

art_for_paige_001I hope you’ve got your… errr… I have no idea what people wear or use at auctions.

Online bidding for the auction in aid of Paige Fortin comes to a close on Friday (5pm UK time, 30th November 2012).  There are multiple items of Cold Case memorabilia in the auction donated by Kathryn herself.

Rather than repeat ourselves further, look at last week’s post about his auction for more details on the reasons behind the fund raising and the items on offer.

The auction is online at the Charity Auction Organizer website.

Happy… errr… what ever is appropriate for auctions.  Gavelling?

Kathryn CC Items In Paige Fortin Auction – Update

art_for_paige_001Here we have a chance to own a bit of genuine Cold Case memorabilia signed by a certain Ms Kathryn Morris and help a good cause.

Just two months ago a young woman called Paige Fortin, from Amesbury, Massachusetts, was in a serious road accident which resulted in her losing much of her right leg.  The community has rallied around to help Paige and her family but they still are faced with long term costs.

Amesbury-based artist Jon Mooers is putting his new gallery to use by running a charity art auction at the end of November (2012) to raise money.  As well as works supplied by local artists Jon has used his Hollywood connections to get a few extras.  For example there is a piece of concept art for the web series Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome by illustrator Peter Mitchell Rubin (Independence Day).  But there are also multiple reasons for KM UK’s interest in this event.

Kathryn has donated eight “lots” of Cold Case memorabilia.  Two crew caps, three sets of directors chairs & publicity photos, her own personal crew jacket, and a couple of embroidered patches .  All signed by the actress herself.  The jacket includes an inscription related to the cause.

You can find more details on the Art Of Paige website.  The auction is online at the Charity Auction Organizer website where you can see the available lots (you may need to look at page 2) and there is a Let’s Help Paige Facebook page.

Images of the CC-related items in the auction are in the Gallery.

Update (10 Dec 2012):  A larger photo of the back of the jacket has been added.  Also there are 5 more images of items up for auction, including a Moneyball crew cap modelled by Johnny Messner.  All are in the Gallery.

DKMS Marrow Donor Drive – October 2007

dkms_01It’s been a couple of months since the last one but we return to our series of posts looking back on Kathryn’s public appearances in 2007.  There’s been a few recurring themes that have cropped up: festivals, premières and motorsport. This one includes none of those.  We’re re-visiting charity work instead.

DKMS is a charity set up to help fight blood cancer.  The unusual initialisation is because the organisation originates in Germany as the Deutsche Knochenmarkspenderdatei gGmbH.  In October of 2007 they ran their annual marrow donor campaign and visited the Warner Bros. Studios where Cold Case was filming it’s 5th season.  Whilst there they bumped into a particularly lovely lady.

As you can see above Kathryn posed for photos with Xander and Carrie Denke, parents of twin boys that we presume are beneficiaries of DKMS help, and other supporters.  15 large images are now in the Gallery.

You can find more information about the DKMS organisation and their good works on their website.

Kathryn On Spring Break 2012?

spring_break_2012_destination_education_150x116She didn’t really strike me as the type.

Oh, it’s not that spring break  :-)

According to an article on the online magazine Society News LA website Kathryn attended an event called Spring Break: Destination Education on the Saturday just gone, the 5th of May 2012.  Her name appears in an extensive list of celebs that were present at the event held on the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City, Los Angeles.

The City Year Los Angeles annual party raises money and awareness for work done with at-risk students.  At this, the 2nd running of the event, $1.2M was raised by more than 1,100 guests and sponsors with an evening of fun and games.  That’s more like the Kathryn we know :-)

You can read the full article written by Ellen Olivier on the Society News LA website and more about the charity on the City Year website.

No further information on Kathryn’s involvement is available at this time and so far no photos have emerged of her at the event.  We will let you know if more comes to light.
