An interesting little news snippet turned up this morning.
In an article by Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith on The National Ledger website there is a brief mention (right at the bottom) of a casting requirement for a new movie project. Some of the actors already signed up are mentioned. Kathryn is one of them. The most important one, of course 
The movie is apparently called Mother’s Little Helpers and stars Denise Richards and James Belushi. The IMDb entry for the film does not list Kathryn as a cast member. There are several other actors down as being ‘rumoured’ though, so maybe she is in in place of one of them. The listed release date is December 2010. The film seems to be based around the story of a boy sent to ‘prep school’ and then finding his mother can no longer afford it. Is Kathryn to reprise her Nurse Platt role? 😉

But alas, Mom’s fortunes have turned and suddenly tuition’s an issue. Serious teenage scheming to keep her financially fit ensue. I’ve searched and searched but can find nothing more on this movie other than the IMDb entry. If you have any further information please let us know, either in the comments or the Contact form.
Update: I’ve done further searching and turned up some more info. None of it is definitive about Kathryn being involved in the project but there is a significant hint at it. I’ll post what I’ve found after the jump.
In the article quoted above it links Sarah Hyland to the project. The movie’s entry on IMDb does not. In this interview on the Backstage website with Sarah from last December she states she is doing this movie, and refers to her friend Ryan Pinkston as being involved. Ryan is listed as rumoured to be part of Mother’s Little Helper on IMDb.
Fancast has an interview with model/actress Amber Smith that links her to the movie. The piece is from last November and also names Natasha Henstridge as being involved. Natasha is not listed on IMDb.
My Entertainment World lists Mother’s Little Helper on a page of Feature Films in Preparation & Pre-Production. The listing may disappear over time so I’ll quote it here:

Asher Levin, the writer and director, is into his modern media outlets. He has both a Twitter account and a YouTube channel. The movie also has its own Twitter feed. Sarah Hyland is a regular Tweeter to Asher. I’ve gone back a few months and not found any reference to Kathryn.
The YouTube channel is where it gets interesting from a Kathryn point of view. There are a series of “mothers book look” videos, they are largely the same as each other. The videos appear to be a sort of photo gallery expressing the look and feel of the movie. At various points character names are shown with actors. At the 1:21 mark in the latest version (mothers look booknew10 7) we get the following three images:
The first references the character name Alison, which is not listed on IMDb. The other two are well known photos of the gorgeous Kathryn. These are followed by other shots of women in various poses, settings and outfits. After this a similar pattern is followed for Judy, though images of Denise Richards do not immediately follow the image with the name. This could all just be evidence of the type of woman that the production is after. It may not.
According to the MLH Twitter feed filming starts next week on the 25th.

I think it’s just a rumor, IMDB would have already listed her. No offense but I think Kathryn really should stick to TV. With movies she should have a bigger role like in “Resurrecting The Champ”, not these small tiny appearances.
Why dismiss it so readily?
Don’t forget that IMDb requires people to submit information for it to appear there, and what is there isn’t necessarily correct. I’ve submitted updates myself to fill in gaps and correct mistakes.
Many of the entries on IMDb for this film are down as rumours. This article is about casting one of those rumoured roles. They mention a second role up for the taking as well. I would guess this info has come from a casting call.
Nothing in the article says Kathryn’s role, assuming it exists at all, is small. Until we know the character we don’t know. If the movie is still in pre-production then filming could beginning after CC wraps for the season, giving Kathryn plenty of time to film a more substantial role. RTC was filmed in the autumn/fall when Kathryn was involved in filming CC.
Cold Case, like all the major TV shows, takes a large part of the year to film, limiting opportunities for the actors to take on other roles.
I just feel like Kathryn deserves to have a bigger role in something besides CC, she’s so talented that she deserves more than a very small roles in movies.
I read an article on her a few days ago, she did say she has had many movie offers, maybe this is one of them.
I don’t understand why if she is in this movie would take such a small role, wouldn’t Kathryn want a much bigger role. It could get people notice more of her talent, perhaps earn an Oscar one day??

Well that’s different from the current situation. Kathryn is limited in the roles she can take on due to her Cold Case commitments.
Obviously if CC is cancelled (or more accurately, not renewed) then that would, I presume, free her to take on larger roles.
Taking a small role like the one in AOAHSP (we don’t know anything about a role in this one yet) does seem a waste but it is a chance to do something different. Actors are always talking about liking taking on other characters. Kathryn is playing Lilly for nearly 9 months of the year. A few weeks of something else must be welcome. Plus she gets to work with different cast and crew which may lead to other opportunities in the future.
She also has a production company, so she could always produce her own show and star in it 😛
I’d love to see her in like, a sitcom or something. Ahaha!

Personally I don’t think Kathryn is likely to star in anything her company produces, maybe a small role occassionally, but not a lead role.
She did mention having a show in the works with Warner Bros. at the EMAs. You can see a video of the interview here in the Gallery.
The show sounds like a reality TV-type thing based around “eco living”. Of course there are probably more than one idea being worked on. I think a previous idea for some sort of detective series was dropped.
Looking at that video again I noticed that the guy milling around behind KM is the same guy she was with at the Peoples’ Choice Awards. It is not David so I assume he is some sort of assistant or business partner.
Just a short time ago Asher Levin posted a couple more “video blogs” (v1.2 and v1.3) to his YouTube channel. In the first he introduces his lead star as Kyle Gallner. Cold Case fans will recognise him from the episode Rampage. I guess that means he’ll be playing the Sam character, the one they were said to auditioning for in my original post.
They mention being outside James Belushi’s house.
It says the movie starts filming next week, if Kathryn is in this movie how can she be doing this while filiming CC at the sametime??
Kathryn only really needs to be present for her scenes. They may not film those for weeks.
