Following on from Monday’s Cold Case screencap catch-up this month’s CCCC-up is going to be another Tracie Thoms-centric one. And for that we make no apology. We thought we’d go with a photo of Thom Barry though to head the piece for a change.
However, before we get to the main course we’ll serve up the gentlemen as an amuse-bouch.
Texas Chainsaw 3D, Thom Barry‘s most recent movie role is due for release on DVD and Blu-ray in May in the US and UK, see your local stockists for details on the dates in your area. The latest in a long line of ‘Chainsaw‘ movies this one’s excuse involves a woman visiting the town of the original massacre in the 1970s. She’s gone to claim an inheritance which turns out to be a house with a dark secret. It’s probably in the basement because that’s where sort of thing is normally kept, or the attic. Either way the woman and her friends do a lot of running about and laughing… No, not laughing, screaming. It’s like laughing only with more blood. Tania Raymonde (Lost and a recurring role in season 6 of Cold Case) was amongst the happy few flailing about in the dark. Thom Barry was Sheriff Hooper, almost certainly named after Tobe Hooper the writer and director of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Thom starred in an episode of the TV show Blue Bloods that aired back in mid-January. Some how we missed that from the previous CCCC-up. Bit of a C*C*-up. He was an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) in the New York-set cop drama starring Donnie Wahlberg (Rizzoli & Isles), Bridget Moynahan (Gray Matters) and Tom Selleck (Magnum PI). The episode was directed by David Barrett (aka One Of The Lucky Ones).
One thing we didn’t miss from last month’s CCCC-up was John Finn‘s upcoming role in the new TV show Golden Boy. It’s another New York based cop show about the youngest police commissioner in the history of the city. As he recounts his rise to power the stories are told in flashback format. John plays the father of one of main female officers played by Bonnie Somerville (Friends). It is not clear how much screen time John has had.
And now on to Tracie. So to speak.
Where to start? There is so much stuff from one of the hardest working women in this business they call ‘show’. The movie Raze about a group of women forced to fight each other for their own survival is finally getting it’s premiere. It is due to have it’s world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in the latter half of April, as part of the “Midnight” lineup. Just around Valentine’s Day Tracie was part of a 3 day long-weekend Vagina Monologue event starring a large group of female stars of stage and screen in aid of children’s charities. We can’t quite fathom if there is supposed to be a link between the Vagina Monologues, Valentine’s Day and children. At this point we’re just mentioning the Vagina Monologues because, frankly we don’t get to say… monologues often enough 😛 Next the big news for followers of Tracie on TV. She has scored a significant role in the pilot for a new drama called Gothica. British actress Janet Montgomery (Human Target and Merlin) is the lead as Grace Van Helsing, a journalist who takes over the family run newspaper. Tracie’s Mina is the managing editor of the paper and a friend of Grace’s. British actor Tom Ellis (Miranda and Miss Conception) is Victor Frankenstein. There are also characters called John Harker (a name from the Dracula stories) and Dorian Grey (from the Oscar Wilde novel), due to be played by another English actor and an Australian respectively. As you can guess from all that there is a definite theme to this show. It is set in modern times though. Another Aussie, Melissa George (Hunted and Grey’s Anatomy), was recently added to the cast as Grace’s nemesis. Like Surgeon General, Gothica is only at the pilot stage. It is not competing with Surgeon General for space on the network as it is an ABC project. Yesterday (14th March 2013) Tracie completed her first day of filming. Last Sunday (10th March 2013) Tracie was seen as a guest star on the CBS drama The Good Wife. She got to work with Wallace Shawn (The Princess Bride) and Bebe Neuwirth (Frasier) amongst others. There were probably lots of other things that Tracie’s done this past month or so but we’ve covered the major work. Fingers crossed for the pilot.
We must sadly end on a sad note for Tracie. Short before our last CCCC-up Tracie got herself a little puppy. After much teasing on Twitter she eventually announced that it’s name was Bulliet (yes, that’s the correct spelling), possibly after a brand of Bourbon (other brands are available, please drink responsibly). He was very cute and Tracie, despite having to deal with some… messes was clearly smitten. Tragically after just a few short weeks Tracie let it be known that Bulleit had died. We gave little Bulleit a special KM UK Shout Out (on the right of the page) in his memory. Our condolences to Tracie.
