Steven Zeitchik, writing for the LA Times website, has some possible extra information regarding Kathryn’s work on Moneyball.
In the article Steven is comparing the fiction with the facts and one of the first he goes for is the issue of Billy Beane having re-married. In Moneyball Beane’s ex-wife (played by Robin Wright) and their daughter appear, his second wife Tara (Kathryn) and their children are never referred to. Brad Pitt, as Beane, is seen to be wearing a wedding ring, which has confused some viewers. Steven goes on to say that Kathryn filmed four scenes and that they even test screened them all.
The information I had (posted about here) from people that saw the first round of test screenings suggests that only one of the scenes was in that edit. Perhaps Steven is talking about private screenings.
You can read the article on the LA Times website.
I think they should have left her scenes in, it have avoided the confusion. Zeitchik could have provide more insight to what her scenes were like. It’s always good that they did mention Kathryn, she deserves the proper credit.
Hopefully, her scenes will be included in the deleted scenes when this DVD is released. They could just release her scenes on youtube. I’m sure without a doubt those four scenes with Kathryn would have made this movie much better.
It wasn’t even number one at the box office this weekend. A lot of people feel that this movie was missing something.
The figures I’ve seen say that Moneyball was quite close to The Lion King 3D in terms of revenue. The extra cost of tickets for 3D movies probably means that in terms of the actual number of tickets sold Moneyball matched or beat Disney’s 3D re-release.
I’m still bummed KM didn’t make it to this movie. It’s getting rave reviews all over the place and it may have given her some much needed publicity. And us some new pics to drool over
Hey Nscha. Good to hear from you again.
It is a great shame that Kathryn didn’t feature as it might have meant première appearances etc. Hopefully Brad and Bennett will feel guilty about cutting her scenes, as well as being impressed by her acting, so they give her more work soon.
I don’t think that Brad Pitt had anything to do with Kathryn’s scenes getting cut. It was more along the lines of Bennett, who is the director.
My Aunt and Her husband actually previewed the movie, she also said that there was no mention of KM’s character; Tara.
@Nscha- Hopefully when the DVD is released, we’ll be hopefully be able to have some screencaps; if her scenes are on the Deleted scenes section, there will be a lot of new pictures for us
Such a shame, I don’t know why the director chose to cut her scenes, but it would have made this movie better. I doubt the ratings would have changed if her scenes were included. Moneyball seems to be a pg-13 movie to me.
