Kathryn was a no-show in Austin last night. In fact the whole event appears to have not happened at all.
Asher Levin (writer/director of Cougars, Inc.) had posted on the Facebook page on Monday about the event. Yesterday I asked him if he was in or was heading off to Texas in the hope of finding out if Kathryn would be there. He replied:
we’ll be in austin later this month. Along with some more towns all over the country. More info to follow… – Link
I tried to confirm that he really meant that they were not going to be at Maggie Mae’s for the events he previously informed us about (nearly a week after KM UK broke the news) and were listed on the venue’s website (and still is at time of writing). No answer was forthcoming.
On several occasions Asher has asked for people to suggest towns for them to visit as part of a roadshow throughout April. This has garnered some responses, one of which was answered with something along the lines of “you organize it and we’ll be there”. This suggests to me that there are few, if any, events already organised. We are a week in to April and the one screening that was supposed to happen didn’t. Are we likely to get more than one event per week in the remaining three? What are the chances of significant cast members being able to commit time to events not organised much in advance?
I fear the wheels are falling off this roadshow. Hopefully I’m wrong.
Update: Asher has posted another message asking for suggestions on places to visit.
I would love for them to come to Raleigh NC, since i live very close to the city. I would only go to meet Kathryn
I suggested Chicago. 😀 Woot! 😀
I think it really has to do with the issue of money and this whole gas prices skyrocketing. It’s become very expensive to fly these days with what’s happening here in the US, with the cost of gas.
Second, this movie is just being released onto DVD. It’s not like it went to theaters and won an oscar or anything. A lot of people never even heard of this movie. Given the nature of this movie, a lot of places will turn it down. It’s just that way, people would rather have a movie that is very popular and one that everyone knows about.
This movie hasn’t even been released onto DVD until next month.
Third, everyone in this movie has their own lives. So their schedules including Kathryn’s might not allow them to do this. She co- own several go-carting places as well as running a production company.
Other’s have other commitments as well. I’m not putting anything down, but I think the main reason is the costs of both the gas and flight prices. Combine that together, it’s very expensive. Too much to get everyone in this movie to different locations.
Even driving isn’t going to help. I suggest that Asher do something like Skpying, from someplace in LA; where everyone around the world can join in. It might be better that way..
I think there won’t be any roadshow. ‘Cougars Inc’ its quite good movie but it’s nothing special at all. It had a great potential but the movie is average. I don’t think that ‘Cougars Inc’ can make enough money to have a roadshow.
@Lolly- If it’s held a bar, minors under 21 can’t go in. It might be hard for you to do get in.
@Smallbarbie- I think you are right. Though I haven’t seen the movie and not about to pay 5.99 to see it on demand or ever. No one except for the Kathryn fans knows about this movie.
I just think Asher should have done like a live thing using Skype on the actual LA premire night; so that everyone around the world can experience it.
That would been logical. Doing a roadtrip, like I had said above is very costly. It’s going to be a logical thing to be doing, especially given the fact that a lot of people have never heard of this movie.
It’s just a movie that’s going to be released onto DVD next month. To me, it’s not a big deal that that warrents a roadtrip; over some movie that is geared for teens; given the aspect of the storyline.
Guess, he wants to make money but that isn’t going to happen. Not when most haven’t heard of the movie before.
