Anyone up for creating some Kathryn-related, Halloween-themed fan art?
The idea came up in a recent discussion which had drifted somewhat from its topic
At the time I referred to it as a “competition” but I think “challenge” would probably be more appropriate. There won’t be any prizes beyond fame, glory and deep sense of pride you’ll get seeing your artistic endeavours displayed in the KM UK Gallery
My aim would be to post all suitable submissions at some point during the week prior to the witching day itself, 31st October. Let us know you are interested in a comment below and email me directly or use the contact form to arrange sending me your work.
That sounds really cool. Nice plan:-)
I just have no clue how things like that work…I mean what software or programm to use and stuff like that. I only know how a computer works, I can check my emails and I know how to get on this website 😉
But I’m sure there are many artist among us… 😀
I’m sort of the other way around. I can work the software (not that I’ve really used Photoshop etc.) but I have no artistic talent or ideas.
If anyone has any ideas for fan art then I’m sure our artist friends would be interested to hear them.
And there is always the more traditional approach of putting pen/pencil/brush/chalk/etc. to paper/canvas/wall. A scanner or a digital camera can get the results into the digital domain.
@Carrie- I recommend Photoshop CS5. It really is an awesome program to use, I’ve been using this software since 2001.
and for those of us who are more financially challenged, I recommend GIMP. Almost as good as Photoshop, and it’s completely free.
The only problem that i have with GIMP is that it constantly crashes, but also photobucket is also another good thing. It’s also free but you can make add stuff to your sigs.
I have GIMP, and it has never crashed on me (yet). Also, Photobucket isn’t exactly an image editing thing.
Finally, you may be thinking that all of us use Windows, or whatever Apple uses. Not so, some people (like me) use Linux (in my case, Linux Ubuntu), and even if we did have the …$500 – $800 for Photoshop, we couldn’t use it.
GIMP is a great program if you’re poor, don’t run Windows or Apple, or both.
I’d be happy to make some. It would be pretty beast if we could have avatars for when we post comments. 😀 Just throwing that out there, haha.
Second there, I’m actually in the process of making some now
@Lolly: I actually deliberately disabled some of the avatar stuff ages ago, can’t remember why, but I have re-enabled it now, I think.
I’m not sure of the details but Gravatar appears to work, it is based on the email address you supply. Identicon, Wavatar and MonsterID may work as well. I’ve kept the avatar size small for now.
Give it ago. I reserve the right to disable them if necessary.
Does it work for Yahoo or not??
It looks like it is just Gravatar. The others I mentioned appear to be available as options within the system as a replacement for those without Gravatar icons. I’ve set the system to just use the silhouette as the default.
Yahoo avatars seem to be limited to just Yahoo services.
Thanks for the help. I’m gonna try it with GIMP first. It looks easier to me
GIMP is a bit cumbersome for many people’s needs. If you want a simpler, more efficient program with basic image manipulation tools for Windows try Paint.net.
How cool. I’m just downloading it.
GIMP didn’t really work. I couldn’t open it. There was always an error.
That’s exactly why I don’t use GIMP, it always freezes up on me, unlike photoshop which is stable. To me GIMP seems to have a lot of bugs, that need to be fixed.
Just don’t use demo programs because there’s a time limit on how long you can use them, and half of the stuff doesn’t work; unless you pay for it.
I started using a program, Photofiltre, I’m still learning to use it.
My friends use it, and they can do good things with it.
BEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSTTTTTT!!!!!!
I love it. 😀
@Lolly- What are you referring to ?? I’m just wondering
